School Operations from January 2022
Parents will be aware that over the next few weeks there is likely to be pressure on key public services due to staff absences caused by periods of self-isolation caused by COVID-19.
For our school, this means that there may be times when classes are taught by other staff, supply teachers or are combined so that we can continue to remain fully open.
A summary of information for parents is given below:
Timings of the school day
Timings of the school day have not changed.
Children should attend school at the normal start times and should be collected at the normal home times.
Attendance
Attendance at school remains compulsory unless a child is ill or has COVID-19 symptoms.
Children with COVID-19 symptoms
If your child has any COVID-19 symptoms then they must not attend school. Parents should book a PCR test and your child will need to self-isolate (remain at home) until the test result is known.
The NHS website gives the following symptoms
a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)
a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal
Positive tests
If your child has a positive LFD test, taken at home with a lateral flow device, then they must not attend school. Parents should arrange for a PCR test keeping the child at home until the result is known.
If the PCR test is positive then your child will need to follow the instructions given by NHS Test and Trace about self-isolation.
If the PCR test is negative then your child can return to school.

Face coverings
Primary aged children are not required to wear face-coverings at school.
Adults (school staff and visitors) must wear a face-covering in communal areas in the school building unless they are exempt.
School events and clubs
We will be limiting some school activities during the next few weeks including whole school events and school trips. This is so that we can review our plans and ensure that our activities fully consider the risk of the Omicron variant of COVID-19.
Breakfast and after-school clubs will run as usual. We will not be running other clubs at the start of term, we will review this during the next 2 weeks.
