Masters of Art

Art this term has given children opportunities to explore the creative art of numerous artists and create their own original work based on imagination and collaboration.

Inspired by Van Gogh - Nursery

The children in Nursery, had a wonderful time creating artwork inspired by Van Gogh's "Starry Night." Through this project, they explored the use of vibrant colours and swirling patterns, mirroring Van Gogh's iconic style. This activity not only introduced them to the basics of art history but also encouraged them to experiment with different techniques and textures. Engaging in such creative expression helped our young learners develop fine motor skills and an appreciation for artistic masterpieces.

Inspired by Quentin Blake - Ye

ar 2

The children in Year 2 enjoyed drawing Willy Wonka, focusing on line technique and emulating the style of Quentin Blake. This activity not only enhanced their artistic skills but also supported their literacy development by complementing their character descriptions and story writing.

Inspired by Eduardo Paolozzi - Year 4

Year 4 learnt about the work of Eduardo Paolozzi, whose collages can be seen in Tottenham Hale. They began by annalysing his work including responding their feelings in relation to the artwork. They then had a first go at using the collaging process creatively and with different materials. They used given shapes to create a robot collage in the style of the artist.

The UK’s Abstract Architecture - Year 6

Year 6 began their art learning journey by exploring photos of abstract sculptures from around the UK and using artistic vocabulary to describe and annalyse the work of different sculptors. They visited the olympic park and saw a local example of an abstract sculpture; The Orbit by Anish Kapoor. Children identified the features of abstract sculpture and used this to design their own. They then bought ideas from each of their own designs into a group design, working collaboratively to make models of abstract sculptures from recycled materials.
